Access Services

Access Services is the administrative home of five University Libraries service units: The Annex, Collection Maintenance, Course Reserves Services, Interlibrary Loan, and Common Services all committed to making collections accessible and providing excellent customer service to all users. We circulate books and other media at the Common Services Desk and maintain order in the book stacks and four off-site shelving locations.

We assist users with locating material in our collections, direct users to quiet, as well as collaborative spaces, manage group study rooms, and inform visitors of the variety of library services and resources available to them. We also facilitate borrowing and lending between Penn State Libraries and libraries at other institutions, and supply course readings via E-Reserves, Canvas and the University Libraries Catalog. Books and other materials can be requested for delivery to a library pick up location via the “I Want It” feature in the catalog At University Park we deliver materials directly to faculty and graduate student offices. Ask about borrowing privileges at the Pattee Commons Services Desk.
